Although the Prophet of Islam was a prophet even when Prophet Adam was in between water and clay, however, the official declaration of his Prophethood took place on the 27th of the month of Rajab 40th year of the elephant (610 C.E.). He was 40years old when he received the first revelation in the cave of Mt. Hira.

This is a day of grandeur not only for Muslims but for the entire humanity. The values taught by the prophet are universal, in line with the innate nature of human beings, and necessary to attain prosperity in this world and the hereafter.

Read in the Name of your Lord Who created; Created man from a clinging mass; Read, and your Lord is the most generous; Who taught by the pen; Taught man what he did not know.” (The Holy Qur'an, 96:1-5). These were the first verses to be revealed.

The flow of the Divine message which continued for the next 23 years had begun, and the Holy Prophet, peace be upon him and his progeny, had arisen to proclaim monotheism, to demolish the edifice of superstition, ignorance, and disbelief, to set up a noble conception of life, and to lead mankind to the light of faith and real happiness.

The first man to accept and join the prophet was Imam Ali (peace be upon him) and the first lady to do so was lady Khadijah (peace be upon her).
