Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) Online Seminary Offers Heartfelt Condolences on the Martyrdom Anniversary of Lady Ruqayyah, the daughter of Imam Husain (peace be upon them).

The tragedy of Karbala reports calamities that are difficult to imagine especially when one reads about Lady Ruqayyah (peace be upon her).

The mind is left baffled at the cruelties and the hard-heartedness of the army of Yazid. The little darling of the Imam went through calamitous situations which words cannot describe. She was thirsty, hungry for days on the scorching plains of Karbala, she saw the martyrdom of her near and dear ones in one day. She witnessed that her beloved father was decapitated. If this was not enough, she had her belongings plundered, her earrings snatched, her Hijab was forcefully taken off, tents were burnt, she was slapped, taunted, and taken as a captive, all of this and many more in one day.

The trauma wasn’t limited to one day. It kept recurring from Karbala to Kufa and then from Kufa to Syria where she finally lay rest.

The story of her martyrdom is also emotional, heart-touching, and painful. It is narrated that she missed her father a lot and although she saw her father’s head during the journey from Karbala to Kufa and then Syria she wasn’t allowed to cry. And when she did, she was struck by the enemies until she became quiet. Then one night, in the dungeons of Damascus, she dreams that her father has come to take her. She wakes up crying, calling, and remembering her father. Yazid (may Allah curse him) then sent a tray with her father’s head to her, upon receiving it she wailed, cried, and finally rested her head on his head and became quiet forever.

May Allah increase the punishment of the founders, signatories, and those who consent to the actions of Yazid, and hasten the reappearance of the awaited avenger of their blood and help us be amongst his helpers.
