Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) Online Seminary Offers Heartfelt Condolences on the Martyrdom Anniversary of Imam Baqir, the illuminator of Knowledge (peace be upon him)

In Karbala:

Imam Baqir (peace be upon him) was born in Medina on the 1st of Rajab 57 AH. He was present and witnessed the tragedy of Karbala alongside his father, Imam Ali ibn Husain (peace be upon them).

Establishment and systemization of Islamic Teachings:

After the event of Karbala and in continuation of the efforts of his father to enlighten the masses about true Islam, Imam Baqir (peace be upon him) started an academic movement to spread the teachings of Islam. This movement reached its apex during the time of his son, Imam al-Sadiq (peace be upon him). To amend the different deviations innovated by the so-called ‘caliphs’, the Imam by using his divine knowledge of the Quran, interpretation, and knowledge of Hadith was able to spread the true interpretation of Islam.

Due to his efforts in reviving Islam, the Imam (peace be upon him) is venerated by the Sunni scholars as well. But alas! The political environment of the time became a barrier in the Imam's effort to disseminate the values of Islam. Hisham, the caliph of the time, sought to reduce the Imam’s influence by martyring him. He did so by poisoning the Imam, thereby trying to diminish the evolvement of true Islam. However, Allah has promised in His book, that He will complete His light of guidance, even if it agonizes the disbelievers. After his martyrdom, his son Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) became the Imam and led the movement of establishing and propagating true Islam.

On this sad day, we ask Allah to complete His light of guidance by hastening the reappearance of our Imam, al-Mahdi, and help us to be amongst its beneficiaries.
